Major League Soccer

When the first Designated Player rule came out, everyone knew it was created for the LA Galaxy to sign David Beckham and became known as the "David Beckham Rule". Now another new rule has been created: the "Core Player" rule allows a fourth DP. The Galaxy have snapped at the new opportunity, as they signed Giovani Dos Santos to a  contract which will keep him in California 'till the end of the decade.

It's not his first go around on a professional team and he usually gains fans by his hard work in the field, but this time Frank Lampard used $500 to win over 20 fans for the NYCFC.

Soccer residency programs with the Galaxy, Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake are starting to make a difference in MLS. Could this be the missing piece for the youth puzzle in U.S. Soccer?

Major League Soccer will soon be seen all across Southeast Asia and Australia with the new agreement between MLS and beIN Sports. The deal, which will broadcast MLS during the 2015-2018 seasons in Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines and Thailand, includes at least two MLS regular season matches per week.

Seattle

Seattle Sounder Brad Evans and his USMNT career were highlighted Monday night before the USMNT game.

The Seattle Sounder women's team clinched the top spot in the Western Division and will host the Colorado Pride this Saturday at Starfire. First Kick is 3 p.m. and tickets are still available.

U.S. Soccer

Hitting a midfield shot over the keeper for a hat trick in the World Cup Final doesn't just happen. For Carli Lloyd practice made perfect and her Australian coach helped her achieve that.

The USMNT believes in a few things and fitness is at the top of the list. Jozy Altidore's fitness was lacking, which means he goes back to Toronto to play in MLS. Greg Garza and Alfredo Morales join Jozy on the way out with Alan Gordon, DaMarcus Beasley, and Joe Corona on the way in.

The U.S. Open Cup continues this week with one quarterfinal game Salt Lake 1, Galaxy 0, I think we can all breathe better knowing LA is out.

Freddy Adu's trip around the world has made another stop in the US. This time in Tampa Bay. Adu signed for the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Tuesday. Still only 26, Adu still has time to fulfill his potential... right?

World Soccer

It's silly season in the soccer world and transfers, gossip, and wish lists abound. Robin Van Persie made it official with his move to Turkey, could another Manchester United player follow him to Turkey? In the rumor department a move for Mario Balotelli COULD happen, I say bring him to Seattle as a 4th DP to play with his brother-in-law Obafemi!
