Major Link Soccer: Rooney to join a new United?

Rooney could help get things off the ground in Atlanta, Real Salt Lake dumps their all-time leading goal scorer, and the senate has some sharp questions for US Soccer.

Wayne Rooney says he'll consider playing in MLS when the right time comes. That right time might be 2017. One report says he'll play for Atlanta United FC in their inaugural season in MLS.

Alvaro Saborio is headed to DC United in exchange for Luis Silva. Saborio reunites with Fabian Espindola in DC, and Real Salt Lake get a younger player and a new option to try to turn things around in a rough season so far.

Brek Shea hasn't played for nearly a month already due to a sports hernia injury, and he's finally going in for surgery to address the issue. That means he's out until at least the stretch run of Orlando City's season.

There was no #CuboWatch, but there was some uncertainty about if and when Erick Torres would be arriving in Houston from his loan to Chivas Guadalajara. He was accused of sexual assault while in Mexico, but he was cleared of the charges by Mexican authorities. MLS Also conducted their own investigation before clearing him to play again. He's back in Houston, but no word on when we'll be getting a chance to see that beautiful robot celebration on the field again.

NYCFC played a little fast and loose with their recent "Soccer in the City" video, kinda making it look like Pele is historically connected to the MLS club. Cosmos fans weren't pleased.

LAG Confidential had a chat one-on-one with Landon Donovan, and the retiree comments on Gerrard, Gio, LA being a super club, and the bathroom schedule of LD's dogs.

The US women took the Espy for Best Team, and Abby Wambach accepted the honor with the whole team up on stage dressed to the nines and looking like they were thoroughly enjoying it.

Marc Pelosi is a US U-23er who was recently released from the Liverpool system. He's back home and training with the San Jose Earthquakes, who happen to have the top spot on the Allocation List needed to sign him.
