The US loses to Jamaica, Panama loses to Geiger, and The US Open Cup semi-finals are set.

Seattle

The Seattle Reign beat their Portland Thorns rivals last night in their first of two consecutive meetings.

Sounders fans have been stuck in a seemingly endless stream of bad news, but we aren't the only ones to have suffered downturns when we lose our stars.

On a lighter note, Clint Dempsey got treated to an article in The Onion.

MLS

[Obligatory Drogba Rumor]

In another International Champions Cup upset, the New York Red Bulls defeated the reigning Premier League champions.

Despite the clickbait title, this article from Forbes is a reasonable analysis of MLS salary cap flexibility.

Orlando City is in a disagreement with São Paulo in regards to Kaká's preseason loan. Orlando believes that they are owed $4 million, but generously offered to take Paulo Henrique Ganso (Portuguese) on a free transfer instead.

This might just be the most innovative way to try and avoid a salary cap hit that I've ever seen, but São Paulo has rejected the offer (also Portuguese) and they will apparently go to court.

US Open Cup

The Red Bulls may have been good enough to beat Chelsea, but they couldn't overcome the powerhouse Philadelphia Union in their US Open Cup match.

The Union will be meeting the Chicago Fire in the next round of the US Open Cup after Orlando City SC gave up two goals in the final 10 minutes of their match.

USA/Gold Cup

If you've been watching the Gold Cup, you've probably seen Stuart Holden during halftime. The chronically injured US International has penned an article on what it's like to be sidelined for so long.

You probably already know that the US was defeated by Jamaica. I don't really feel like talking about it, so here is a gif of a hamster in a hot dog eating contest.

In other USMNT news, Tim Howard says that he is ready to make himself available for selection. It will be up to Kinsmann how he competes with Guzan.

That is of course assuming that Klinsmann isn't fired. Should Klinsmann be fired?

Panama went down a man early in their semi-final matchup against Mexico. Despite this, they managed to score a goal and seemed destined to face Jamaica in the final for most of the match. Mark Geiger (the pride of PRO) wasn't having any of that and gifted El-Tri with a penalty in the 88th minute.

The match was pretty much an unmitigated disaster with beer thrown on players, players running after referees, and the Panamanian team finally posing with a banner accusing CONCACAF  of corruption:

In the end, Mexico will be facing Jamaica in the final.
