Sounders FC 2 look to extend their dominance over the Timbers 2 tonight, as the two teams face for the fifth time this season. The match is a home one for S2, where the team boasts an 8-1-0 record, and it kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
S2 (10-6-3) has come out on top each match against T2 (7-9-2), scoring two goals in each game and giving up just one goal across all competitions. Their most recent encounter, on June 29, was a 2-0 shutout in Portland that featured goals from Sam Garza and Pablo Rossi.
This is an important match for both teams. S2 still sits tied with LA Galaxy II atop the table, and could take sole possession of first place with a win tonight. T2 is just one point out of playoff contention with a game in hand, although the visiting team will have to overcome a struggling record on the road. T2 is 2-6-2 in away matches.
The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. You can follow the action on YouTube or you can attend in person at Starfire (better leave now).
Lineups
S2 is going with its usual 4-4-2 lineup, with Aaron Kovar getting the start at left back. Oalex Anderson, who was impressive in his last home match at Starfire, will start up top alongside Pablo Rossi. Both were injured in a July 12 match against Arizona United. Sergio Mota is out after picking up a red card last match, his second on the season. Damion Lowe is also out due to yellow card accumulation.
