Showing just how short on options the Seattle Sounders are these days, head coach Sigi Schmid is rolling out a lineup that looks shockingly similar to the one that looked so awful a week ago. The most notable change in Saturday's lineup against the Montreal Impact is the insertion of Chad Barrett in place of Thomas. The Sounders are once again calling their lineup a 4-3-3, although the personnel looks much more like a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1.
The deciding factor in that formation will be how Cristian Roldan fills that role, ostensibly as a wide forward. By drawing it up this way, Schmid seems to be inviting Roldan to take a more active role in the attack.
