Last we heard anything about Fredy Montero, he was supposedly on his way out at Sporting CP. Well, he's back with the Portuguese giants and off to a pretty good start during preseason.
The former Seattle Sounders forward scored a brace in a friendly against English Premier League club Crystal Palace. Sporting CP won 2-0 on Sunday.
The first goal came off a free kick from just outside the penalty area that he somehow managed to sneak inside the near post.
His second goal was a bit more impressive, as he ran onto a ball in the box and laced a left-footed shot between a pair of defenders and inside the far post.
The last notable Montero rumor had him considering a move back to MLS, but not with the Sounders. A performance like this can only serve to improve his market value, but maybe he has a place with Sporting after all.
