Clint Dempsey won't join Sounders until after MLS All-Star Game

Dempsey will most likely get one day of training with Sounders before Whitecaps match.

Clint Dempsey should at least be available to play in the Seattle Sounders' next match. But if you thought there was any chance he'd skip the MLS All-Star Game in order to get as much training time as possible, be prepared to be disappointed.

Dempsey -- as well as fellow MLS All-Star Chad Marshall -- were both absent from Monday's training session so that they could be in Denver for pre-match goings-on for Wednesday's absolutely meaningless match against Tottenham Hotspur. Dempsey is spending at least some of that time making the rounds with local media.

Neither Dempsey nor Marshall are expected to get more than one day of training with the Sounders ahead of Saturday's Cascadia Cup clash against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Dempsey, of course, hasn't suited up for the Sounders since mid-June, when he was red-carded and eventually suspended for three games. Immediately following his suspension, Dempsey joined the United States national team where he played in a friendly against Guatemala and six more Gold Cup matches. Although Dempsey won the tournament's Golden Ball after scoring seven goals, he has also logged about 550 minutes since last playing for the Sounders.

Without Dempsey, the Sounders have gone 1-6-0 and have managed to score just two goals.
