Major Link Soccer: Supporter's Shield summits Rainier

An impressive feat for an inanimate object without feet.

Even higher than this.
Even higher than this.

Don't mind the blue links. Turns out it's a side effect of writing these things in Windows Edge on a Surface.

Seattle

You can now find David Estrada with OC Blues FC in Southern California. Estrada was last with the Sounders last year before being traded to D.C. United in 2014. He's also played with the wildly successful Sacramento Republic.

The Tacoma Stars had a busy weekend, hosting a scouting event before playing the WISL All-Stars and winning 7-4.

Orlando City has been taking a critical look at Sunday's match, including five Orlando-centric takeaways and acknowledgment that Seattle is the target Orlando and other expansion teams are aiming for.

Sounders U-23 may have crashed out of the USL PDL Championship tournament an few weeks back, but their success in developing young talent is being help up as another model for like-minded teams.

Either Simon Borg or Greg Lalas (maybe both?) have Obafemi Martins down as a shortlist MVP candidate, and they also linked a tweeted picture of Sunday's tifo.

Top Drawer Soccer has Jordan Morris down as a starting striker on their NCAA D1 Soccer preseason starting XI.

Whoever said you can't get high on success never saw Seattle inventing Supporter's Summit Shields.

MLS

There probably wasn't ever much of a chance that Herculez Gómez would come back to Seattle, but the former Sounders striker was certainly sought after. In an interview with Empire of Soccer, Gómez says that the New York Cosmos actually offered him a larger contract than the one he accepted from Toronto FC, which won't convince leadership at the NASL that MLS is the more desirable league.

MLS appears to be pushing for a weekly recap show on the teletubes.

AC/DC rocks so hard that they sent an MLS game forward in time. Their concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro forced MLS to move a previously weekend game between the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls to a Wednesday in September.

USL President Jake Edwards sat down with Alicia Rodriguez to talk about the advancement of the USL-MLS partnership and the upcoming expansion teams (sounds like two or three more are coming on top of recently-announced Cincinnati FC and Rio Grande.)

World

Parma used to be an Italian soccer club with at least some reputation, but a series of poor owners and a bankruptcy has them starting over from the bottom rung of the country's sporting ladder.
