A two-goal, one-assist outing marked a long-awaited return for Obafemi Martins and a sensational debut and goal for newcomer Nelson Haedo Valdez. Captain Brad Evans made his return to central midfield to make way for the Panamanian Kaiju Román Torres.
Oba is back so of course Oba scores in only a manner Oba could score :
It's almost like the last two months never happened.
Nelson Haedo Valdez impressed from the first whistle. Erik Friberg does well to get the ball to Valdez and then sends Oba in on goal:
It fills me so much glee when I see the Hydra rear its beautiful heads on our field. Look at the movement by Valdez:
The foul for the penalty on Orlando City. Apparently the defender wanted to dance with Chad Marshall:
Typically you might expect me to have a gif of the ensuing penalty kick. We'll just pretend I forgot to make one. Hey look - puppies!
Brad Evans and Erik Friberg were deployed as our center midfielders in a formation I like to call the "4-4-Taco". They were quite excellent on the day, both shutting down Kaká on multiple occasions.
First B-Rad drinks his milkshake:
Then Friberg says "that looks delicious I shall have some":
Valdez capped off his wonderful first outing with a beautiful header from a Friberg cross. Go ahead and allow yourself to watch this for a few minutes:
Are you done watching that goal? It's okay, you can go back and watch it more if you'd like. When you're done, just come back here - we'll wait for you.
FLAMETHROWERS FOR THE NEW GUY:
OBA HUGS FOR THE NEW GUY:
Obafemi Martins is not only a (wonderful) man, he's a scorer of just some insane goals. Exhibit A:
OMG HE'S GOING TO FLIP PLEASE DON'T FLIP PLEASE DON'T GET HUR--- Phew:
Friberg put the taco on the platter for Lamar Neagle and Lamar done broke the tortilla in half and spilled the taco innards all over the floor:
Thomás Jaguaribe Bedinelli - the best Brazilian on the field:
You go on and dance, Thomás - you deserve it!
I think he's going to have some locker room ribbing for hugging Oba but leaving everyone else hanging:
