Erik Friberg should be available for CCL match

Sounders were confident enough in Friberg's health that they brought him to Vancouver.

For the second straight week, injuries forced the Seattle Sounders to make multiple substitutions. This week, it was Brad Evans (74') and Osvaldo Alonso (85') coming out early. Afterward, Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid said he wasn't aware of either injury being particularly serious, but Alonso was seen walking with a slight limp and with a bag of ice strapped around his leg.

The Sounders were also forced to play without the services of Erik Friberg, who suffered an injury in Friday's training session. That injury also isn't believed to be particularly serious.

"We brought him along and thought he might be able to go today," Schmid told reporters after the game." He should be fine for Wednesday."

Assuming Friberg is actually able to play in the Sounders' CONCACAF Champions League group stage finale, his absence on Saturday could prove to be a boon. Friberg would likely be one of the Sounders few regular starters fully available for that match, which they may need to win in order to advance to the knockout phase of the tournament.
