Major Link Soccer: Call ups and fill ins

The Seattle Sounders will miss two possibly three starters from lasts weeks victory over the Portland Timbers, but Seattle will have players ready to fill in.

The Seattle Sounders practiced Tuesday without central defender Roman Torres, and midfielder Marco Pappa, both players are away with their national teams. Clint Dempsey and Ozzie Alonso could return to the lineup Saturday when Toronto comes to town. Saturday's game will be crucial for Seattle in their playoff quest..

For the last three league games the Seattle Sounders have seen a change, Dylan Remick has not been the starting left back instead that job has been given to Oniel Fisher. The speedy Jamaican hasn't disappointed and could slowly be working himself into a permanent move.

Joey Gjertsen is set to join his home town team the Tacoma Stars. Gjertsen has gone a long way since his time at Tacoma Community College. Gjertsen represents the third player signed by the Stars leading into the club’s first full season in the Major Arena Soccer League.

Another local player is moving to a new club, DeAndre Yedlin was loaned out to Sunderland yesterday. The team he was loaned to is on a losing streak, 10 goals against in their four loses. Will Yedlin help plug the holes and solidify the defense or will he attack the flanks from midfield only Dick Advocaat will know.

Last week the New York Red Bulls got away with a play straight from the U12 training ground. The Chicago Fire were caught sleeping and the Red Bulls tied the game. Was the play fair or legal is in question, but justice was served and Chicago did score a winner.

When Barcelona was hit with a transfer ban one of the casualties was American Ben Lederman. The 15 year old Lederman moved to Barcelona as a ten year old in 2011 and for the past year he has only been allowed to practice with the academy after having his registration card revoked due to the transfer ban.

USA midfielder Danny Williams is happy these days, his career has taken him across Europe and on to the World Cup with his country.  Another player making his return after a summer layoff due to injury is Jermaine Jones, Jones feels he is a big part of the USMNT and is looking forward to playing again.

Klinsmann called up Jonathan Spector, Birmingham City's versatile defender, for September friendlies against Peru and Brazil. The call-up is Spector's first since March 2014, and he has not played for the national team since February 2012.

Forty-four years ago, the Rochester Lancers took on the Dallas Tornado in a playoff game with no penalty kicks. Two hours, 56 minutes later they were still playing.

When your owner is a Billionaire buying, selling, and loaning players is no problem. Chelsea spent some money in the transfer window acquiring Pedro, Asmir Begovic, and Baba Rahman but what is more astounding is that Chelsea has 33 players out on loan for the season.
