Seattle Sounders FC and XBOX have teamed up to turn this Sunday's match versus the LA Galaxy into a Halo-themed "Us against the Galaxy" shoot-em-up. When the team takes the field on October 4, the Xbox logo on the team's Pitch Black jerseys will be accompanied by the words "Halo 5: Guardians." The promotion will include life-sized characters and vehicles from the game series, one of the best-selling of all time.
The Sounders-Xbox partnership has been largely static since its inception in 2008, when the team revealed their inaugural kits as a giant banner featuring "XBOX 360 Live." The "Live" was dropped for the 2010 Electric Yellow third kits, and in 2011 the primary and secondary kits were changed to simply read "XBOX." All Sounders jerseys have followed suit since. In 2009, fans attending a late-season match were given Xbox 360 Sounders avatar jerseys, a digital item which still isn't available in the Xbox Live Marketplace.
This will be the first time the club has worn their third kits for an MLS Regular Season home match.
Per the team, just 200 of these special Halo-ized kits will be made available to purchase at the game. You can also enter to win one on Soundersfc.com. In addition, 20,000 Halo5-Sounders promotional shirts will be given to fans who attend the game. "Halo 5: Guardians" releases October 27.
Faced with the extraterrestrial scourge once again, it's time for the Sounders to FINISH THE FIGHT.
