Defender Joevin Jones confirmed as player traded from Chicago Fire

UPDATE: The Sounders announced the acquired Jones.

Sounder at Heart can confirm that the player that was traded from Chicago FIre for Seattle Sounders' 15th overall SuperDraft pick is defender and Trinidad and Tobago international Joevin Jones. This was the initial report of the trade:

The Sounders have been searching for their starting left-back for a couple seasons, having cycled through a number of players due to injury and poor form. Seattle released Leo Gonzalez following the 2015 season, and Dylan Remick was unable to lock down a starting spot during the season. Oniel Fisher ended up starting nine games at left back, but is more naturally a right back.

Jones, who is only 24, made 28 appearances in his only season with the Chicago Fire, and has earned 38 caps for the Trinidad and Tobago national team. The defender scored his first international goal in a 2015 Gold Cup group match against Guatemala. Jones began his career in 2009 with W Connection in the Trinidad and Tobago (TT) Pro League after coming up through the club's youth system.
