Werder Bremen's Sporting Direction confirmed that Jordan Morris will be training with the Bundesliga club on Tuesday, but also seemed to downplay its significance.
"It's a good opportunity for us to get to know a player better," Thomas Eichin told the team's website. "Nothing more, nothing less."
While this could be seen as a somewhat encouraging sign, it hardly means the Sounders are in the clear. Whether Morris' time in Germany is spent training or formally on trial, there remains a good chance that he could do enough to impress coaches that he's offered a contract. If Morris does choose to sign with a foreign club, the Sounders would basically be left with nothing as he's not under any kind of financial obligation to the club or MLS.
