Major Link Soccer: UEFA open to a Champions League final in New York

The European governing body is talking about opening up the bidding process for hosting rights. Meanwhile, an American is charged in the ongoing FIFA corruption case.

The Department of Justice continues its prosecution of fraud and racketeering conspiracy charges related to bribes paid to FIFA and other groups to secure marketing rights for major tournaments. Aaron Davidson of Traffic Sports USA plead guilty to "negotiating and paying" more than $14 million in bribes on behalf of his company.

A UEFA Champions League final outside of Europe? According to an interview with AP, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin wants to open a bidding process to cities everywhere for the rights to host one of the biggest matches in the world of football. After all, he says, it's already a really long flight from Portugal to Azerbaijan, is it that different to travel to the US? Also...you know, money.

FC Dallas have a great chance at the Supporters' Shield, but they are without Mauro Diaz now for the near future. So, how should Dallas line up and play for the rest of 2016? The staff of Big D Soccer have several different ideas.

Montreal Impact have signed a young homegrown player to an MLS contract. Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla was born in Côte D'Ivoire but is a Canadian national. The attacking, creative winger has signed with the Impact for 2 years.

Minnesota United FC's season ticket pricing is very reasonable, as you can see in their seating chart, with lots of seats available for under $20 per match. They've got over 9,000 season ticket deposits so far.

If the NY Cosmos qualify for the NASL Final, they'll host it. But are they trying to sell the rights to host the game to their potential opponents in Indy 11? They say no, denying an earlier report as just rumors.
