We know the season just ended and the playoffs are around the corner, literally. Some websites are putting together their regular season awards and the Seattle Sounders have one player already named to a Best XI.
Midfielder Osvaldo Alonso has been named to WhoScored.com’s Major League Soccer Best XI. He is the only Sounders’ player on their Best XI. He is also the second highest rated player for the season with a rating of 7.5, just 0.3 behind Sebastian Giovinco of Toronto FC.
Ozzie has been the most consistent player on the Sounders roster this year. After an injury-plagued season in 2015, that saw him play in only 22 games and miss the Sounders three playoff games, Ozzie has been able to stay healthy in 2016.
He played in 32 games this season and logged 2,826 minutes. The two games he missed this year were for a red card and yellow card accumulation. He tied his career high for goals in a season, which he set in 2011, with three. His goal against Real Salt Lake in Week Two of the season ended a three-year scoreless drought in regular season play. He also finished the season with four assists, a new career-high.
