Stars new road kit is equal parts greatness, historic tribute

The icons (State Route 509 Bridge, Mount Rainier, the Tacoma Dome, Narrows Bridge, and Union Station) of the City of Destiny adorn the latest Stars kit.

Tacoma Stars

Yes, the Tacoma Stars play at Kent’s ShoWare Center. No, the Tacoma Stars are not turning their backs on their history. Their road kit is all about that history and the city of Tacoma.

Mount Rainier, the Tacoma Dome, Union Station, the Narrows and State Route 509 Bridges are all featured and there is little surprise that the front is the dome where they made their history.

“The new Skyline Kit helps to highlight our home city of Tacoma and showcases iconic places we all love,” Stars Vice President of Business Development John Crouch said. “We utilized this graphic on a limited-release jersey last season and are looking to build on it this year as we continue to evolve the look and feel of what we believe to be one of the best logos in all of soccer.”

Both home and road kits will have the rainbow striping running from lower right to upper left under the classic Tacoma Stars logo.

The team will wear this road kit on a few home dates as well, including the home opener on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6:05 PM (ShoWare Center).

Coach and GM Darren Sawatzky is still filling out his roster. It includes former Sounders Michael Ramos (S2) and Jamael Cox (Academy), as well as former MLS players Raphael Cox and Joey Gjertsen. MASL greats Evan McNeley and Danny Waltman are also under contract.
