Due to yellow card accumulation in CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying Uruguay is releasing Nicolas Lodeiro back to Seattle Sounders FC. The club confirmed that they worked with the Uruguayan National Team to confirm Nico’s availability. He should return to Seattle in time to train on Monday, and therefore be eligible for selection on Wednesday October 12 against the Houston Dynamo.
If Seattle wins that match they will secure their eighth straight playoff appearance.
Lodeiro has three goals and eight assists on the season so far. He won the Player of the Month in August.
Sounders FC could still be without Joevin Jones, Oniel Fisher and Jordan Morris depending on their federation’s intent. Morris plays in a friendly against New Zealand that Washington, D.C. is hosting. Jones and Fisher are in Caribbean Cup qualifiers. Oniel and Jamaica (with Sounders loanee Damion Lowe) play against Guyana on October 11. Joevin and Trinidad and Tobago play against Martinique (former Sounder Kevin Parsemain was also called up) on the 11th.
