MLS:

Both the Sounders and Toronto FC are primed to end their MLS Cup drought during these MLS playoffs, if they can overcome their painful playoff histories.

Via an ESPN FC report, Bastian Schweinsteiger is in talks to join the Chicago Fire. The move would be mutually beneficial, giving Schweinsteiger an opportunity to get back on the field, while also giving Chicago a big name they have been long pursuing.

Schweinsteiger is one of a flurry of international stalwarts that could be interested in pursuing an MLS career. Another notable name on that list: Wayne Rooney.

United States:

Amidst the tension shrouding this past week, the tone of Friday's United States- Mexico World Cup Qualifying match was thankfully more focused on the rivalry on the field than the charged political rhetoric  off of it.

The NASL championship match has been set, with the New York Cosmos taking on Indy Eleven in the final. It took the Cosmos a miraculous comeback to get there, featuring a last minute winner from Yohandry Orozco.

The World:

Usain Bolt has his eyes set on one more remarkable accomplishment following his Olympic success; a transition to professional soccer. His first stop on this new journey: Borussia Dortmund.

Neymar's 50th career international goal at just 24 years of age, 4 years earlier than Leo Messi and 5 more than Ronaldo. His torrid pace through history books keeps him in the pole position as heir apparent to soccer's spotlight.
