Major Link Soccer: Klinsmann Under Fire

DC United gets a designated player, Wayne Rooney rumors just won't die, and nobody is ready to stop talking about Klinsmann.

Seattle

With Tim Howard officially out for the Rapids, the official Sounders site takes a look at what we can expect to see from Zac MacMath.

MLS

We've talked about the many current Sounders players who have played for their national sides during this break. Former Sounder Micheal Azira also contributed to win by the Ugandan National Team.

DC United have converted Luciano Acosta from his 1-year loan to a longer term designated player contract.

Already a front-runner in MLS expansion plans, the city of Sacramento has approved a proposal to build a new downtown soccer stadium.

Since it's already the off-season for a majority of MLS sides, many commentators are already looking at off-season moves, such as this list of the biggest need for each team.

The Columbus Crew seem to be very interested in obtaining the services of Omar Gonzalez. It will be interesting to see how strongly they pursue the US international and how they contend with expansion clubs having priority.

DC United's Stadium has yet to reach a final design. The club has just released it's newly updated renders.

Wayne Rooney to MLS rumors just won't go away, despite the fact that it seems that few fans are particularly interested on the move. Right now, LAFC is pegged as the likely target.

Sadly. New England Revolution defender AJ Soars has been forced into a premature retirement on account of an unfortunate head injury. I couldn't help but notice that his instagram post revealing the move looked quite familiar.

Former Orlando City coach Adrian Heath appears set to head up another expansion side in Minnesota.

NASL

The latest bit of bad news for the NASL is a report that players and employees of the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers have not been paid for about a month.

USA

Given that the US just experienced their worst game under Klinsmann, the perception that the team has hit rock bottom, and that the players have just given up, it is no surprise that many separate outlets are calling for his ouster.

One worrying sign that US Soccer may be completely out of ideas is the rumor that Bruce Arena may be on the short list to take the helm.

Another bit of bad news for the US Men is the year-over-year attendance drop, although I would be interested to see the revenue difference with the skyrocketing ticket prices taken into account.

Christian Pulisic continues to be what seems to be the sole bit of light in the darkness. Tab Romos recently recounted his very first impressions of the young player.
