Nicolas Lodeiro drew the penalty and then converted from the spot to give the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute. It was Lodeiro’s eighth goal of the season, and fourth of the playoffs, which set a franchise record.
The chance opened up when Jordan Morris found Joevin Jones all alone on the left wing. Jones’ cross deflected off a defender and Morris got enough of a foot on it to keep the ball in the box. Lodeiro was first to it and Marc Burch bungled into him.
Lodeiro calmly put his penalty attempt down the middle to give the Sounders’ their first lead.
