The 2-1 lead is good. It isn’t enough to make plans for December 10th. Those plans will be made or broken based on leg two, today. The Colorado Rapids are seeking a third trip to MLS Cup. Seattle Sounders FC want to make their first. Commerce City, Colorado is hosting the 1 PM match on ESPN, which gives the Rapids an advantage due to the mile high elevation. That advantage would show up late, and so it is key for the Sounders to seize the game early while they have full lungs.
Any win or draw sees Seattle go to the MLS Cup. Any loss by one goal where the Sounders score two goals would see the Sounders go to MLS Cup. A 2-1 loss would force extra time where away goals are no longer the tie-breaker. This could result in PKs. A loss of 1-0 would have Seattle watch MLS Cup from home. Any loss by more than a goal also ends their dreams.
Ricardo Salazar is the center referee. Clint Dempsey is still out due to a heart issue. Oalex Anderson is listed as questionable. Colorado Rapids will be without Tim Howard and Dillon Serna due to injury. Sam Cronin is out due to yellow card accumulation. Yellow card accumulation does not carry into MLS Cup, so no players are in danger of suspension due to previous cards. A red card would mean that a player misses MLS Cup.
