Experience the joy of winning MLS Cup like a player

Michael Farfan’s first-person video puts you right in the middle of the celebration.

Michael Farfan barely saw the field this year mostly due to a variety of injuries. But along the way he apparently started up a video production company specializing in soccer tutorials and, more recently, behind-the-scenes footage of the Seattle Sounders’ MLS Cup experience.

By far the best of these videos is this one:

Right around the 1-minute mark is the start of the penalty shootout, and that’s where this really gets good. You can feel the tension building as it gets closer to the deciding kick and then the release of Roman Torres’ winner. The viewer — through Farfan — gets rushed onto the field and into the celebratory dog pile.

The viewer also gets to pick up their medal and feel what it was like to be there on stage when Osvaldo Alonso lifts the trophy.

We even get to see the locker room celebration, including the singing of “Jingle Bells” as well as what looked to be a pretty great reception at the team hotel.

Unfortunately, the video ends before we get into the locker room, though. Maybe that’s a future installment.
