Chances are, you didn’t hear the Seattle Sounders’ radio call of their MLS Cup win. Most of the people reading this were either in Toronto or watching on TV hearing the Fox broadcasters.
Regardless of how many people heard it live, there was a Sounders radio broadcast with Matt Johnson on play-by-play and Steve Zakuani and Kasey Keller on color. Now, you can at least hear Johnson’s call of Roman Torres’ winning kick.
There’s no signature line in the call — except maybe “Brian Schmetzer has brought the MLS Cup to Seattle” — but there’s no mistaking the emotion in Johnson’s voice. This is what it sounds like when someone who considers themselves a fan finds themselves in the midst of what is the biggest soccer moment in a team’s history.
