Olympic qualifying won't interfere with Sounders schedule

New, 10 comments

The United States hopes of qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics will be determined at Dallas' Toyota Stadium on March 29, it was announced on Tuesday. This is the second of a two-legged playoff against Colombia, with the first leg being played on March 25.

Although the United States also has a World Cup qualifier against Guatemala on March 29, it is expected that Jordan Morris will participate in the match against Colombia. Morris played with the U23 team during the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament and has been listed among the 10 U23 players currently training with the senior national team.

Either way, Morris shouldn't miss any Seattle Sounders matches. Unlike previous seasons, the Sounders have mostly managed to avoid playing on FIFA dates and they won't play anytime between March 19 and April 2. Even if the Sounders advance to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, there won't be a conflict there either as those matches are scheduled for March 15-17 and April 5-7.
