Give this to the Tacoma Stars: They have a flare for the dramatic. A little less than a week after they scored the game-winner with less than 2 seconds remaining, they waited until inside a minute to score the winner in the final game of the regular season to clinch a spot in the MASL playoffs.
The heroics were delivered by Mike Ramos, again. This time, he took a perfect pass from Corey Keitz, controlled the bounce and beat the Ontario Fury goalkeeper with 40 seconds remaining.
The Stars and Fury had entered the match tied, with the winner qualifying for the playoffs. The Stars had jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to head into the final three minutes trailing 4-3. But Derek Johnson grabbed the equalizer to set the stage for the late-game drama.
