Friday didn't go so well for the Seattle Sounders' pair of United States internationals, but it went considerably better for Joevin Jones and Trinidad & Tobago. The Soca Warriors beat St. Vincent and Grenadines 3-2 to move to the top of Group C in CONCACAF's World Cup qualifying tournament and are now in prime position to move on to the Hex.
Jones' biggest contribution came on a 58th minute corner kick that managed to find the back of the net.
Also scoring in the game was S2's Myron Samuel, who converted a first half penalty to give Vincy Heat a relatively short-lived lead. The loss leaves Vincy Heat, who also features the Sounders' Oalex Anderson, at the bottom of Group C.
The two countries will face each other again on Tuesday in Port of Spain, Trinidad. A win by the Soca Warriors would all but clinch a spot in the final round of World Cup qualifying.
