Sounders Academy player scores olimpico

In these dark days of early season struggles, we are constantly looking for the light. And while it's entirely unfair to put too much of our hopes and dreams into any player currently in the Sounders Academy, there's a relatively new name you probably want to keep an eye on: Cameron Martin.

The 15-year-old has scored eight goals in 20 USSDA appearances with the U15/16 team, and that doesn't include the olimpico he scored in the U17 Generation adidas Cup last weekend. You'll want to skip ahead to the end to the 1:00 mark of this video:

Sure, it's a somewhat fluky goal and we don't want to read too much into that, but it seems telling that an underage player was even given the responsibility for taking corners in the first place. It should also be said this one had the kind of height and arc that will almost always give goalkeepers trouble.
