In what is sure to be a highly controversial statement, Clint Dempsey has shared his opinion that MLS has come a long way in the past 12 years.

American Soccer Analysis has been posting 2016 previews for each MLS club. They have now gotten to their Seattle Preview.

All of the MLS teams have now washed out of the the CCL.

Real Salt Lake arguably came the closest with their 1-1 loss at home last night. Prior to Tigres getting the equalizer (and the 3-1 lead on aggregate) RSL had a chance to tie things up with a penalty that ended up being saved. RSL defender Aaron Maund took a nasty knock to the head in the final minutes and developed quite the lump.

The LA Galaxy had the most embarrassing loss of 4-0 vs Santos Laguna. Is it even possible to have a Galaxy without any stars? As per usual, Bruce Arena was quick to find a scapegoat for the loss.

If you aren't lucky enough to be going to the Sounders MLS home opener in person, you may get the pleasure of listening to Sigi's wise words during the match. MLS coaches are to be mic'ed up for the national broadcasts this year.

Just when you thought the controversy over Drogba's future with the Montreal Impact was over, it appears that he'll be making a move to Miami FC. The star of the Impact will reportedly be spending about a month training with the smaller club in order to avoid games taking place on turf.

On the heels of releasing Herculez Gomez, Toronto FC has also traded away midfielder Collen Warner to the Houston Dynamo in exchange for a draft pick.

With the season opener only a few days away, it's time for the pundits to start putting out power rankings. MLSSoccerand have each published their preseason rankings.

Howler Magazine has taken the time to point out the general acceptance of female supporters in the MLS ranks. It seems that the breakdown of male to female supporters in MLS is nearly 50-50, something that is relatively unique in sports fandom.

Other US Leagues

It's quite possible that you have never heard of League 1, and that's entirely reasonable because it never really existed. The Guardian provides a bit of a history lesson about the proposed competitor to MLS and it's "innovative" and convoluted proposed rules.

A van carrying 6 members of the USL's Tulsa Ruffnecks was in an accident that sent 4 of the players to the hospital. Luckily, 3 of them were released after treatment for minor injuries and the fourth is in stable condition.

It is good news that US soccer will be investing more in girls developement, but are they going about it in the wrong way?

It has been reported that the USMNT will face Bolivia in a pre-Copa America friendly on May 29th. The Sounders have a match scheduled for May 28th, but anyone leaving for Copa America would presumably be gone by that point anyway.
