Three Big Storylines:
- The LA Galaxy again feature on national TV, they were on Fox Sports 1 on Sunday in what will be known as the Nigel de Jong versus Darlington Nagbe's ankle game, this time with the Friday night UniMas game. De Jong was suspended for three games as a result of the clash and the Galaxy will be without Robbie Keane and Dan Kennedy who are officially out with Steven Gerrard, Jeff Larentowicz, Leonardo and Robbie Rogers all listed as questionable. Houston come into the game off last weekend's draw with the Seattle Sounders. They will be looking to not give up a stoppage time equalizer against the short handed Galaxy.
- The Montreal Impact sit atop the Eastern Conference with 9 points from 5 played as they head to Chicago to take on the Chicago Fire (Saturday 2 PM, MLS Live). It will be an emotional return for Harry Shipp, the homegrown Fire player that was traded to Montreal in the off season. The Impact should see the return of Didier Drogba to the lineup as his self imposed turf exile (turf-xile?) has ended now that the Impact see a run of games on grass.
- Jermaine Jones is ready to make his Colorado Rapids debut. Jones has served his six game suspension that carried over from last year's playoff tirade and is ready to "Shoot out of a cannon" for Colorado. The weather reports out of Colorado might see Jones reprise his Snow Classico form for Colorado in his debut. The Rapids host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday (3 PM, MLS Live). Both the Rapids and Red Bulls are two of six teams that had a Wednesday mid week game. The Red Bulls lost 2-0 at San Jose Earthquakes while the Rapids pulled out an impressive 2-1 win at Sporting Kansas City.
From a Sounders Point of View:
Three Points, just get three points. Even with three points the Sounders would still be below the red line.
The Portland Timbers host the Earthquakes on Saturday, a draw would be nice there. The only cross conference game is New York Red Bulls at Colorado Rapids, go energy drinks!
