Nelson Valdez available against Philadelphia, Friberg a possibility

He's not guaranteed to start, but it's highly likely that Nelson Valdez will be in the 18

Despite having been injured and unavailable for last weekend's trip to Houston, Seattle Sounders forward Nelson Haedo Valdez was back in training on Friday and according to Sigi Schmid, is available for Saturday's home match against Philadelphia Union. Valdez was replaced by Jordan Morris at center forward in the draw against Houston, but as both players have been similarly ineffective, it's anybody's guess regarding who starts up top for Seattle.

Erik Friberg, who has been out with an MCL strain since coming off in Week 2 at Real Salt Lake, was also in training on Friday and potentially available for Saturday. Sigi Schmid's tone seemed to indicate that a start was off the table for the midfielder, but that a place in the 18 is still possible. "We're going to make a final decision on Friberg, whether he'll be in the 18 or not." Cristian Roldan has been filling in for Friberg since the injury and has improved enormously over the past few weeks. When Friberg does return, it's not a certainty that he'll make the starting XI; Roldan has made a solid case for his own inclusion in midfield alongside Osvaldo Alonso over the past few weeks.
