Major Link Soccer: Jermaine Jones ready to play the villain

"When you know people hate you, you get respect from that." Herbalife may be sketchy, but they're doing better than ever. No Neymar at Copa America.

Did you know Cristian Roldan's older brother is an assistant athletic trainer with the Colorado Rapids? Me neither! But here is a Q&A with Cesar Roldan that reveals just that. Also revealed: Roldan = Messi.

Major League Soccer

It's not super fun to be ranked 13th in the RSL Soapbox Power Rankings Averages, but there is a silver lining. Last week, the Sounders were 15th, and the week before they were 17th. This trend is good, this trend will hopefully continue.

Don Garber spoke on nearly everything about which Don Garber might speak, including the conflict over pay for the US Women: He feels "we need to be on the right side of history here."

We can make jokes about the LA Galaxy's jersey sponsor being a Ponzi scheme, but Herbalife continues to expand and reap the benefits of high-level soccer star endorsements. How about this: During David Beckham's LA Galaxy tenure, Herbalife's sales doubled. Now Ronaldo is calling into their meetings.

Jermaine Jones may not have been exactly who Pablo Mastroeni and co. were looking for, but when he came on their radar, he made sense, Jones gives opponents "something to think about" when they step on the field, according to Pablo. (Bruises)

Serie A striker Marco Borriello may be headed to MLS -- both Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls have been sniffing. Toronto may already have their quota of Italian strikers though, so we'll see.

San Diego is back on the map for MLS expansion, after seemingly falling to the end of the list.

US Soccer

The New York Times has set to work unpacking and explaining the current pay disparity between the men's and womens national teams, and has done well to try to work with the numbers that are publicly available.

Christian Pulisic has scored for Borussia Dortmund, and Jurgen Klinsmann says he just might find himself on the US Copa America squad if he keeps it up.

Don Garber thinks consistent playing time (in MLS) is better for developing US players than practicing and sitting on a bench (in top leagues in Europe), noting his disagreement with Klinsmann on the matter.

Barcelona's Camp Nou will undergo massive renovations over the next few years, which you can preview in this video. Remarkably, all the construction is timed so that the famous team can play all of its normal home matches during the season.

Speaking of Barcelona, Neymar will officially not play in the Copa America Centenario, only in the Olympics for Brazil.
