Jordan Morris didn't just score snap a more than 700-minute scoreless run on Saturday. The half-volley past Andre Blake wasn't just Morris' first tally as a professional. It was also the first time CenturyLink Field fans got to really show their appreciation for the native son.
Matt Johnson, the Sounders' new radio announcer and a local himself, clearly understood this when he made his call of the history-making moment. Johnson went silent in order for radio listeners to hear not only James Woollard's in-stadium announcement, but also fans' call-and-repeat of Morris' name.
It was a special moment and one that easily could have been talked over. But credit to Johnson, and color announcer Pete Fewing, for recognizing and highlighting what was happening.
