Major Link Soccer: Don Garber has a hot take

The commissioner weighs on where MLS fits in U.S. player development, and spoiler alert: he's all for it.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Don Garber has not been afraid to insert himself into the debate around US player development in the past, and continued that trend yesterday, saying that the value of a young player consistently playing in MLS is much more than being on the bench abroad.

The prospective ownership group lead by DC United managing general partner Jason Levien is getting closer and closer to acquiring Swansea City.

Although Atlanta United's on-field product remains non-quantifiable, the side is looking to be on the cutting edge of quantifiable data here and now through the work of Lucy Rushton, one of the only women to be heading a data program in all of professional soccer.

United States

The United States U18 National Team is preparing for their first team camp of the year, calling in twenty-three players.

The World

This slip in form is further supported by analytics, where their recent play can show the danger in taking expected goal formulas as law.
