Sean Okoli made his professional debut with the Seattle Sounders back in 2014. But after a promising debut, the Homegrown Player slipped down the depth chart and was eventually traded to the New England Revolution before the start of the 2015 season. (The Sounders used the draft pick acquired for Okoli to select Tyler Miller.) Okoli didn't find much more playing time in New England than he had here and was eventually cut before the start of this season.
The Federal Way native, who is still just 23, eventually caught on with FC Cincinnati and is off to a strong start. He's now scored two goals through four games, including this absolutely stunning strike on Saturday:
Okoli's talent has never been in doubt, as this scissor kick goal shows. But Okoli, who turned down an opportunity to play for S2 prior to being traded, has sometimes had a higher opinion of himself than his coaches. If he keeps playing like this, though, that might not matter.
