Three Big Storylines:
- The New York Red Bulls feature in their third consecutive Viernes de Fútbol (Friday night on UniMas) when they travel to RFK Stadium to take on D.C. United. In a battle for the red line in the Eastern conference, both teams are on 10 points from 10 played, Sacha Kljestan will look to continue his great run of form and power the Red Bulls past their traditional rivals.
- Staying in the Eastern Conference, there is an unlikely first versus second matchup when the Philadelphia Union travel across the border to take on the Montreal Impact (Saturday, MLS Live, 2:00 PM). Speaking of unlikely, first place in the Supporters' Shield standings on a robust 2.09 points per game the Colorado Rapids travel to Columbus Crew in the Crew's first match after trading Kei Kamara (Saturday, MLS Live, 4:30 PM).
- Sunday features two interesting matchups on National TV as Sporting Kansas City will look to break out of their two points from seven played funk when they host Orlando City who should have a healthy Kaka leading the attack and the Portland Timbers host New York City FC in their first of two appearances in Cascadia (NYCFC travel to Seattle on June 25th). Look for the Timbers to push the pace early and try to get NYCFC on the back foot so Andrea Pirlo does not have time on the ball and an in form David Villa is starved for service.
From a Sounders Point of View:
If Orlando City can extend Sporting KC's bad run of form, that would be cool. But not as cool as if New York City FC can get even a point in Portland. Also look for an inspired Columbus Crew, fresh off their midweek Kei Kamara trade saga, to knock off the Colorado Rapids.
