Seattle got pretty lucky with the Copa America final rosters. Jordan Morris and Brad Evans were both left off the United States' roster that was announced on Saturday. Clint Dempsey headlines a striker quartet that lost Jozy Altidore from contention last week and includes fellow MLS forwards Chris Wondolowski and Gyasi Zardes. Bobby Wood rounds it out. Former Sounder, DeAndre Yedlin, earned a call-up as well.
Oniel Fisher was left off of Jamica's final roster while Nelson Valdez was named earlier this month to Paraguay's National Team roster. Valdez's injury could be an issue but if he's too hurt for them then he is probably too hurt for us, too. Roman Torres was named to Panama's team as an honorary captain.
Morris being left off is arguably the biggest surprise of a roster that includes new USMNT-it-boy Christian Pulisic. Being left behind has its advantages as Morris could play his own "Copa America" touring great cities like New England and Washington DC as Seattle plays at both, May 28th and June 1st respectively. Of those two, only Steve Birnbaum from DC had a US call-up.
If the USMNT advances beyond the group stage, Dempsey would also miss Seattle's match on June 19th against the New York Red Bulls.
