Major League Soccer announced that the fan voting portion of the MLS All-Star team selection process begins on Thursday, May 26 and lasts until July 4.
To vote online, fans should head to the All-Star page on the MLS website, where they can vote for 10 players -- a goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders, and two forwards. Each MLS team has eight players on the ballot, voted on by members of the media. Seattle Sounders FC is represented in this portion of the vote by the following players:
- Goalkeeper: Stefan Frei
- Defenders: Brad Evans, Chad Marshall, and Joevin Jones
- Midfielders: Andreas Ivanschitz and Osvaldo Alonso
- Forwards: Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris
As they've done in the past, the 11th player to be chosen as part of the fan voting portion will be established by the "More than a Vote" challenge on the soccer video game FIFA 16. Each time a fan scores a goal in FIFA 16 with one of the eligible forwards, that forward gets an All-Star vote. Of the 38 eligible forwards, Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris represent Seattle. Obafemi Martins was nominated via this method for last year's All-Star game, but wasn't able to play due to injury.
