As expected, Nelson Haedo Valdez has been named to Paraguay's final 23-man roster for the Copa America Centenario. The announcement was made on Monday.
While there hasn't been much doubt as to Valdez's place on the team, this does essentially ensure that the Seattle Sounders will be without their forward for the May 28 match at the New England Revolution and the June 1 match at D.C. United. Although the Copa America does not begin until June 3, Paraguay has a warmup match against Mexico on May 28 that Valdez will surely be called into.
Clint Dempsey, Jordan Morris, Brad Evans, Oniel Fisher and Roman Torres have also been named to their respective teams' preliminary rosters. The United States trio is expected to learn their fate on May 20 when that roster is due to be finalized.
