US Soccer

Starting Friday, the United States will stage one of international soccer’s most famous tournaments: The Copa America. To celebrate its 100th anniversary and unite the Americas, the crown jewel of South American futbol has ventured beyond continental borders for the first time, here is everything you need to know about it with group previews.

Back in 1995 the United States was not known for its soccer prowess, but nobody told that to the players. The US finished at the top of Copa America group play defeating Argentina 3-0 and knocked out Mexico in the quarterfinals, before losing to Brazil in the Semifinals and a loss to Colombia in the consolation game.

If you're good enough, you're old enough. Christian Pulisic has been playing up his whole life, and now at 17 could be starting in the Copa America for the USA.

US Open Cup third round action has the Kitsap Pumas traveling to California's Capital to take on Sacramento Republic FC. The winner will play the Seattle Sounders June 15 at Starfire in Tukwila.

American Outlaws is the largest soccer supporters group in the nation. And thanks in part to ESPN’s ad campaign for the 2014 World Cup prominently featuring AO, it’s a visible organization that’s introduced the most casual tiers of soccer fans to the whole concept of supporters.

Seattle

The Seattle Sounders are currently down on their luck losing their last three games; injuries and lack of goals have been partially to blame. With last weekend's loss at New England, Seattle is now 0-4-1 away from home this season. The match preview has some good news for Seattle, but will former fan favorite Lamar Neagle spoil the evening?

Former Seattle Sounder academy and Washington State youth soccer technical director Gary White is leaving his post as Guam national team coach and heading to China. White will take over Shanghai Shenxin in the China League One division.

At the Seattle Sounders U23 practices you will often find Darren Sawatszky giving directions and asking questions. For Sawatszky, educating the players is just as important as coaching the team.

World Soccer

At 22 years, Harry Kane has already made his mark on the English Premier League by finishing last season as its top goal scorer. Kane's two-year career has scored 64 goals in 94 starts for Tottenham. What did it take to get Kane to this point?

Just weeks after the end of a Premier League season where the Leicester Foxes outran the rich and powerful to win England’s top league for the first time in their 132-year history, there came another compelling underdog story. A.F.C. Wimbledon, which was founded only 14 years ago, won promotion to the third tier of English soccer on Monday and Beast Mode helped.

Javier Hernandez is small and slight. Even at 28, his body seems barely removed from boyhood. Yet even in an unadorned black tracksuit, charisma flies off him like sweat off a boxer.

Hindsight is 20-20, at least that is how Giuseppe Rossi and his agent see it. "In hindsight, going back to when he chose between representing Italy or the USA, we should have chosen the USA,"

They are talking Turkey when it comes to Gyasi Zardes. The current rumor has the LA Galaxy frontman moving to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.

Kamara is still scoring goals for the Columbus Crew... Ola Kamara that is. For his hat-trick performance Saturday night against Real Salt Lake, Ola Kamara was voted "Player of the Week".

Goals of the Week: Payet, Giroud, De Bruyne, and Nolito
