Copa America 2016 score update: Clint Dempsey gives USA 1-0 lead over Paraguay

It's been said that this game is as much a referendum on Clint Dempsey as it is one on Jurgen Klinsmann and the current state of the United States national team (by me, at least). Well, Dempsey is taking advantage.

Dempsey scored his 51st international goal in the 27th minute, slamming home a cross from Gyasi Zardes after making a delayed run into the box.

It wasn't necessarily a pretty goal, but it was vintage Dempsey: Clutch and well taken. If the result holds, the USMNT will clinch a spot in the Copa America Centenario quarterfinals and potentially win their group, depending on how the Colombia-Costa Rica match goes later in the day.
