Sounders FC 2 vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Gamethread and live stream

S2 host a beleaguered Colorado Springs Switchbacks.

Today S2 will take on the Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Starfire Sports Complex. The Switchbacks will be without starting centerback Josh Phillips, and happen to be in a bit of a torpidity. 17 games and 14 points into the season it seems naive to expect S2 to win any game, even one against a team in a rut like Colorado, but today’s game will be as good a chance as any.

Colorado's style of play is defined by defensive pressure throughout the field, while resorting to a boot-and-run on offense. Since S2 played a game in Saint Louis this past Wednesday they’ll need to do their best to conserve energy today, while also staying composed and precise on the ball.

The Switchbacks have an all time record of 0-10-3 when giving up the first goal in a game: When they lose the first goal they tend to panic; when they score first they hunker down and defend heartily to wind down the clock. If S2 are smart they'll do their best to make sure they're the first ones to put the ball in the net.

Considering that S2’s entire season could accurately be described as a torpidity, this game will still be a tough one for the Rave Green. No matter how they do overall though, it will be another good opportunity for players to work on their own individual development.
