Jordan Morris is no quite a run of form, having scored three goals in his past two games — including a friendly against the Premier League’s West Ham United. He was inches away from adding to that form. LevyFilms’ footage shows just how close he came to scoring an amazing goal.
What Levy’s footage also shows is that Morris fought off a pretty questionable tackle from goalkeeper Brian Rowe, who made a ton of contact with the attacker. It’s a credit to Morris that he was still able to get off an accurate shot, with only some last-minute defending from A.J. DeLaGarza keeping the game from being tied.
It can be reasonably argued that Morris STILL should have scored. When an attacker beats the goalkeeper and only has a single defender between him and goal, you expect him to hit the back of the net. But give credit where it’s due. Morris made a wonderful touch and did well to beat Rowe, and probably would have been awarded a penalty if he’d gone down easier instead of keeping his feet.
