Sounders at Sporting KC: Clint Dempsey returns to nearly Ideal XI lineup

In what will likely play as a 4-4-2 with Cristian Roldan and Erik Friberg as the central midfielders the Seattle Sounders start a forward pairing of Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris. This is as close to an Ideal XI as Sigi Schmid has at this time. Morris and Dempsey should be able to thrive against a weakened Sporting Kansas City backline.

The main questions revolve around right back and right midfield. Today's selections are Herculez Gomez, the former KC player, and Tyron Mears. Their competitors for playing time (Fisher, Valdez) are both on the bench.
