The MLS All-Star team will look to extend their winning streak after victories over Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 last year and a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in 2014 when they take on Arsenal from the English Premier League. Arsenal are coming off a second place finish last season and are in preseason form preparing for their opening match on August 14th when they host Liverpool to kick off the season.
As per MLS tradition, the host team head coach will coach the All-Star team. Thus Dominic Kinnear is tasked with leading the squad and has the delicate task of allocating minutes in an All-Star game.
Arsenal will feature US Youth International Gedion Zelalem. The 19 year old spent last season on loan in Scotland to Rangers, playing in the Scottish second division for the year. Zelalem will assess this upcoming season's plans after Arsenal's US tour has concluded, look for another loan for the youngster to continue earning playing time.
After the match, Arsenal will stay in California and head to Carson for their next game where they play Chivas de Guadalajara on Sunday in the Home Depot Center.
