Roman Torres on the "right path" to return soon

Interim Head Coach Brian Schmetzer will get expanded roster selection, maybe by the next home game.

Coach Brian Schmetzer will probably have central midfielder Erik Friberg back this week, and will look to integrate Alvaro Fernandez into the plan as well, but it looks like those hungry for the return of Roman Torres will have to wait a bit longer.

The long travel needed with Seattle Sounders FC heading across the country to Orlando City SC for their next match might be the main reason why Torres will not play. He is however back practicing fully coach Schmetzer said with a smile:

"... he needs a full week - plus it's on the road; it's on turf, stuff like that. We'll keep him on the right path." The next home game the Panamanian could play in is Sunday August 14th game against Real Salt Lake. 21st against a team from Oregon.

Torres was "cleared to train," Brian said. "That's a bit of good news, for a today, for a Monday. Roman Torres in full training. And he worked hard. That's a plus. That's exciting."

The new/old coach was a little coy about how soon the return would be. With a smile he made it clear that the team is not saving the Panamanian center back. The staff wants him on the field.

"When he's ready he's going to play."
