Major Link Soccer: Open Cup Final is Set

FC Dallas moves on to the finals, MLS referees are analyzed, and Brazil finally scores some goals.

It's been easy to focus on one midfielder in particular these past couple of weeks, but let's not forget how much Cristian Roldan has improved this year.

MLS referees are the worst, right? American Soccer Analysis set out to see if they are really as inconsistent as we think they are.

The San Jose Earthquakes have signed former La Liga striker, 31-year old Henok Goitam.

Chicago fans are apparently upset that their dumpster Fire (their words, not mine) may be less fun to watch after loaning out some young players.

Zac MacMath has played reasonably well for the Colorado Rapids and is understandably upset about his demotion due to the signing of Tim Howard.

Good news for the presumably countless number of Portland Timbers fans reading this post, as our neighbors have signed Diego Valeri to a multi-year extension.

Real Salt Lake is still working out visa issues for their recent signing of Pedro Baez, but they are already talking up the 19-year old striker.

There isn't really any sign that the Fire are up for sale, but that doesn't stop speculation about potential buyers. This blog post from Chicago Fire Confidential also has some interesting facts on the team's poor stadium lease terms.

Orlando City's new stadium construction is well underway, as showin in the following timelapse video:

US Open Cup

The second semi-final match for the US Open Cup went over 100 minutes without a goal being scored, but three goals in the final 20. FC Dallas claimed two of those goals in the final five minutes to move on to the US Open Cup final.

So now the US Open Cup final is now set between Dallas and the New England Revolution. Each team has one US Open Cup to their name so far.

Julian Green has been named to Bayern Munich's first team, so naturally now it's time for articles about his life outside of soccer.

Do recent issues at Rayo OKC portend larger issues for the NASL?

Olympic Soccer

After scoreless draws in their first two matches, Brazilian soccer fans were going so far as to change their allegiances (to their women's team). But the Brazilian men rebounded with a 4-0 drubbing of Denmark in Salvador.

Mexico did not manage to pull off the win that they needed in their last match, losing 1-0 to South Korea and being eliminated from the games.

Argentina managed a draw against Honduras, but they needed more and have also been eliminated.
