Nocerino suspended after kicking ball at defenseless Clint Dempsey

Two Western Conference players also suspended

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC at Orlando City SC
Yellow card turns to red post-match

While the official at the time only rated kicking a ball into a player on the ground as a yellow card the MLS Disciplinary Committee disagreed. The proper call should have been a red card. The Disciplinary Committee suspended Orlando City’s DP for their next game. Seattle Sounders gain little from the blown call.

It is the Committee's unanimous decision that Antonio Nocerino’s action was violent conduct which endangered the safety of an opponent. Mr. Nocerino is suspended for one (1) game and will be issued an undisclosed fine for this action.

David Horst (Houston Dynamo) and Jeff Larentowicz (LA Galaxy) were also suspended. Those two suspensions should help Seattle’s quest to make the playoffs, if only a little bit.

Remember kids, don’t kick a ball at a player when they are on the ground.
