MLS Weekend, How to Watch MLS in Week 23. TV and Streaming Listings

Three Big Storylines:

  1. Viernes de Fútbol on UniMas sees our Cascadia neighbors to the north open the MLS weekend on Friday night hosting the San Jose Earthquakes.  Both the Vancouver Whitecaps and Quakes join the Sounders below the red line in the playoff hunt.  San Jose has only scored 23 goals through 22 games good for last in the Western Conference.  Vancouver seems to have the squad to make a run when you look at the talent on paper, but has been struggling all year to create many good chances.  The Caps are on a 317 minute scoreless run having earned only two points in their last four matches.
  2. Alejandro Bedoya is set to make his Philadelphia Union debut on Saturday when the Union travel to Boston to take on the New England Revolution (4:30 PM, MLS Live).  Bedoya played college soccer at Boston College along with Charlie Davies.  Davies was traded at the deadline from the Revolution to the Union and made his debut with 10 minutes last weekend in the Union's 2-2 draw with D.C. United.  This game will be a farewell of sorts for Davies who scored 14 goals over 60 games with the Revs.
  3. The LA Galaxy host the Colorado Rapids to cap off the seven MLS games played on Saturday (7:30 PM, MLS Live).  Colorado are second in the West, 3 points behind FC Dallas but with two points in hand.  The sit in fourth in the West but only four points back of Colorado with the same games played.  The Galaxy are on an eight game unbeaten streak in league play, earning 16 points over that span but they were knocked out of the US Open Cup at home on Thursday.  FC Dallas and the Galaxy played to a 0-0 draw through 90 minutes, then Mike Magee converted a PK in the 101st minute before Mauro Diaz assisted both Matt Hedges (116th minute) and Victor Ulloa (121st minute) to complete the comeback and make the final where they will host New England.

From a Sounders Point of View:

With the Sounders looking like they might go on a run, this section gets very important.

Vancouver and San Jose can draw on Friday night in Vancouver, thanks guys.

D.C. United host the Portland Timbers, and if we were not chasing the Timbers for a playoff spot we would still be cheering for the home team.  Go United.

FC Dallas hosts Sporting KC, FCD is likely out of reach but SKC is not.  Go FC Dallas.

Both the Galaxy and Rapids would have to stumble mightily for the Sounders to catch them.  Let's have them getting used to dropping points.  Cheer for a Draw.
