Like showing up to work without your coffee, not all days get going right from the start. Sometimes you need a little longer to get into things, and today that was the case for S2 as they took on Rio Grande Valley FC in Texas. They looked hazy to start the match, but the bigger problem was that when they did finally wake up their play was riddled with panic and avoidable mistakes. The game ended 6-0.

RGV FC opened the scoring in the 44th minute, despite a number of close opportunities before that. They received a free kick in front of S2’s box, which was threaded over the wall and into the top right corner by Toros player Emilio Garcia. Garcia got his second goal of the match two minutes later.

Any hope S2 had of improving their luck in the second half was dashed in the 46th minute, when Rob Lovejoy headed a cross back across the net to Ruben Luna, who put the ball in the net. Both Oniel Fisher and Michael Nelson had lost their marks.

The Toros were unlucky to not score again until late in the match, but did manage to chasten S2’s attack through the half. S2 had trouble stringing passes together or retraining the ball when dribbling, and it was no surprise to see Eric Bird’s goal in the 81st. RGV FC followed up with two more goals in extra time.
